As the season draws to a close, we take a quick look at all things NZ in Season 38.
1. One of the greats of OCM NZ, Warren Howlett, retired this season, not that long after making his 47th appearance in the World Tour. He stands 5th on that list, 4th on WT points for NZ, and has the 2nd most number of results by a NZ rider (with 38). He was also 3rd for the national title in Season 28.
2. Another OCM NZ great, Mils Rodda, recorded a breakaway win in the WT B race Classica Verona, thereby winning the race for the 2nd time. He also became the first NZ rider to have won 3 times in the World Tour.
3. Ruru Leonard retained his national title. He also debuted for the WT team and became the 1st Kiwi to win the WT B race Radomsko - Kruszyna. He finished the season =17th in the WT rankings with 220 points.
4. NZ Tour results:
-- Allan Wade (Velo Kiwi), 5th overall & 2nd YC in Vuelta de los Castillos.
-- Mils Rodda (Velo Kiwi), 6th overall in Volta ao Porto.
-- Shane Austin (Willunga Hill), 8th overall in Race of the Minutemen.
-- Aidan Randall (Rorys Rovers), 9th overall in Monte Rosa Tour.
5. NZ Classics results:
-- Allan Wade (Velo Kiwi), 3rd in Ainet - Bruggen.
-- Ruru Leonard (Pelles Gazelles), 5th in Helsinki GP.
-- Danyon Miller (Velo Kiwi), 6th in Grasse - Toulon.
